Spam e-mail to help Bilawal access Benazir's funds - indiainfo.com

Islamabad: A hoax email on behalf of slain former Pakistani Premier Benazir Bhutto's son Bilawal asking people to help him take custody of funds deposited by his late mother in a Dutch bank is currently being circulated, presumably by internet scamsters.

The email, received by numerous people in the United Arab Emirates, promises to keep details of the recipients secret. It asks recipients to help Bilawal get access to funds allegedly put in the bank in the Netherlands by his mother so that the PPP can push its demand for a probe into Bhutto's murder by the UN.

"All we just crave for now is for her killing to be probed by an international team under the United Nations. It is the only hope we have of getting the possible plotters of her murder properly investigated," states the email which even provides a link to the PPP's official website.

"Only this would help us convince our supporters that there was some element of collusion between her murderers and agents of President Musharraf who were determined to get rid of her."

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, 19, shot to prominence after being elevated to the post of chairman of the Pakistan People's Party after his mother's assassination in December.

The email adds, "Losing her is the hardest thing I've been through in all my life, but knowing that she was a hero to many people does comfort me." PPP leaders based in Dubai said the email is a hoax and a trick to obtain the personal financial details of recipients.

"How can such a letter be written urging people to take custody of her funds?" Akram Farouqi, a prominent PPP leader in the UAE was quoted as saying by a Dubai-based newspaper. "The late Benazir Bhutto already made her assets public and everyone knows this. The email is absolutely baseless," he said.Source : PTI
