Card fraud worth Rs 10 lakh
Kolkata: Credit card fraudster Subhrodeb Saha Chowdhury has so far swindled at least eight persons of Rs 10.24 lakh after laying hands on their credit cards. Police have found out that Chowdhury used to tap the detailed client database of some banks through outsourcing agencies. He then used to call up the clients offering them an opportunity to enhance their credit limits. Out of ten attempts, he used to strike gold at least once. Chowdhury used to tell the clients that the latter had to deposit the credit card with a person, who knows the code. He used to tell the code to the client. Next, posing as the bank employee, he used to visit the household and reveal the code. This helped him win the trust of the clients. Chowdhury used to put the card in an envelope and then seal it. Obtaining the pin was then a cakewalk. He used this to withdraw cash from the ATM.
